What is one thing you love about working at Bovitz/ION/Communify?
I love that everyone is willing to help each other out on projects to the best of their capability. It’s an inclusive environment. There’s also this atmosphere of creativity and talent. It truly fosters confidence in being a creative professional.
Tell me about a life-changing experience you’ve had.
After the first major freelance pop-up event production I did in 2018, I only had about 200 attendees and we estimated over 1000. I developed anxiety for the first time in my life. It took a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to get the business back on track, but I did it. That was truly the bottom of my life and career. After I got through that, I felt unstoppable. It made me rethink what failure looked like now that I knew how far I could pull myself up. I now see failure as an opportunity to redirect, pivot, and come back better.
What's something that people are surprised to learn about you?
I used to be a nerd in middle school. As a Nigerian, I read a lot. I loved sci-fi and alternative music. I wasn’t very “cool” yet. Yes, I even ate lunch in the bathroom at times. Once in a while, I still feel like a nerd, but much cooler.
What inspires you?
Creating. I love to see others creating and think of things that I would do differently or that would make something better. Being able to produce the ideas in your mind is truly inspiring to me.
Why is being people-first important to you?
“People first” means caring about how people feel, understand, operate, digest, and look at things. Building solid relationships will always help projects and other work feel easier.
