Daniel Meister
VP/Group Account Director
People that inspire me the most with their actions or way of life are most often found among my family and friends. Overall, I believe that seeking inspiration on a regular basis is essential since it improves one's view of one's own potential and pushes me to go above and beyond what I had envisioned for myself.
What is one thing you love about working at Bovitz/ION/Communify?
Despite the fact that we have grown significantly over the last several years, I still consider us a small firm with an entrepreneurial spirit. We’re a group of like-minded self-starters who work together to keep the engines of innovation and production going at full speed every day. We are all working toward a common objective of making a positive impact, regardless of what title you hold or what project you are working on.
Tell me about a life-changing experience you’ve had.
While growing up in Germany, I spent a whole year as an exchange student in a U.S. high school. I had never spent more than a few of weeks away from home before, but being alone for so long in a foreign country with no family or friends was certainly a life-changing event. Studying abroad gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, with new people, viewpoints, and traditions. I developed tremendously as a person, fueled by the necessity to face challenges outside of my familiar support network and comfort zone. When I returned to Germany, I had a strong sense of accomplishment, which motivated me to continue on my journey to living my best life.
What's something that people are surprised to learn about you?
I played college baseball here in the States. I started playing in Germany in the ‘90s when it was still a fringe sport. It is still today, but at least we now have the first successful German in the MLB with Max Kepler playing for the Twins.
What inspires you?
I believe that there are many things in everyday life that inspire me, and it is critical to allow small things to inspire you on a regular basis. Nature, music, something new I've learned, or a specific person can all provide inspiration. People that inspire me the most with their actions or way of life are most often found among my family and friends. Overall, I believe that seeking inspiration on a regular basis is essential since it improves one's view of one's own potential and pushes me to go above and beyond what I had envisioned for myself.
Why is being people-first important to you?
"People first” means that we endeavor to act with human interests and ideals in mind so that we can ultimately connect more deeply with people. This is true both in the corporate space connecting with customers or clients, and in my personal life. It is essential to build strong relationships by being present and emphatic. It’s the ability to put oneself in another's shoes in order to understand their feelings and perspectives that will help us guide our actions.
